CentraCare is a health system consisting of 9 hospitals and 25+ clinics. We are reexamining our “Areas” and use of them. We would like to compare our areas to that of other health systems. Does anyone have a list of the different areas in their locations and/or descriptions of how they are used that they would be willing to share with us? Over several years we have reduced our areas from about 150 options to around 100 and would like to continue to explore ways that we can become even more efficient in our organization of policies/areas.
PolicyStat Areas - Health Systems
Hi @darla.broberg, I have a couple of examples, however your site configuration may also come to play*. I’m happy to jump on a quick call with you to chat about options for CentraCare. Use this link to Book time with Cheryl Kirchner
*For example, traditional acute care sites typically organize Areas by Departments, with a few sub-categories (e.g., Nursing Areas may include ‘NUR-Periop’, ‘NUR-Med/Surg’, ‘NUR-L&D’, etc.). Since the Lab may have multiple sub-categories, it may be useful to organize all Lab documents into on site with Areas for each sub-category (e.g., Chemistry, Pathology, etc.) The site could then be part of a Laboratory Applicability Group with other sites that need access to those documents.
Sounds great! Thank you, Cheryl! I set aside some time for us to connect on Monday.
